How to edit a video by editing its text

Transcript editing flips the mental model: instead of hunting a waveform for the moment someone said the thing, you read the transcript and delete the sentence. The video, audio, captions, and any B-Roll re-cut themselves to match. For talking-head content it is routinely 5 to 10 times faster than timeline editing.

Step by step

1. Import your clip into LazyReel (drag and drop; iPhone HEVC converts automatically).
2. Click Captions and transcribe: on-device Whisper works offline, or use a cloud engine for best accuracy.
3. Open Composer and read the transcript. Delete filler words or whole sentences; each deletion cuts the video at word precision.
4. Run Smart Edit to auto-remove ums, uhs, silences, and rambling in one pass.
5. Export. The cut list renders as one seamless video in up to 4K.

Does deleting a word really cut the video?

Yes. The transcript is word-aligned to the media, so removing text removes exactly that time range from video and audio, and downstream captions and B-Roll re-sync.

Can I do this without uploading my footage?
